Genesis 1-6

Like John in the New Testament, Genesis is a book of beginnings - both books start with "in the beginning..." And there are certainly a number of parallels between the two books. for instance in Genesis 1:3 we see God creating light in the midst of darkness - the same way Jesus is described in John 1.

Gen 1-2: God could perhaps have made humans as just spirits with no bodies, no physical needs or sensations. Yet, He made us physical, and designed a marvelous, experiencial Paradise for us. God is good. Creation was meant to show us who God is, to help us know and enjoy His goodness. When we begin to pursue creation's delights for their own sake separate from our Creator, we lose the abundance and delight God wants us to have. I ask myself, how will I pursue God today?
